The Region and Szentgotthárd
The western region of
Hungary bordering on Austria is a particularly popular target
of investment. The well-developed
infrastucture, the vicinity of the Schengen countries and
the skilled man-power are determining factors for most investors.
Our region is intersected by the international main road
E66, which connects Budapest with the Western European motorway
network. Austria and Slovenia can be reached across more
border crossing points. The Őrség National Park, which is
well-known for its natural beauty and unique wildlife also
belongs to our region.
Szentgotthárd is the town of the Hungarian-Austrian-Slovenian
triple border and also the most western located town of Hungary.
In the beginning, the town - founded more than 800 years ago
- was the centre of commerce and also that of the Cistercian
order. From the second part of the 19th century it has been
a modern industrial town. The town and its immediate surrounding
has approximately 10.000 inhabitants. Most of the employees
work in industry and servicing. |

Transport
Public roads: The industrial park is situated in the
immediate surrounding of the international main road E 66 (NO.:8),
only a few kilometres away from the Austrian A1 motorway. The
Rábafüzes/Heiligenkreuz border crossing point is only in a
1-kilometre distance. On the premises of the industrial park
there is a separate border crossing point available for the
firms settled in the park. The nearest Slovenian checkpoint
can be found in a 15-kilometre distance.
Railway: The town railway station is within 1.5 kilometres
but the industrial park has its own railway station (Haris
köz), which is registered in the timetables. An industrial
railway track is being constructed to make cargo transport
easier.
Airports: Graz International Airport is a 1-hour drive and
can be reached on A1 motorway. Ferihegy Airport Budapest can
be reached on main road E66 (No.:8) and M7 motorway. The distance
is 250 km. |

The Industrial Park
The one in Szentgotthárd
was one of the first industrial parks in Hungary, which started
its operation in 1997. Since
then its first section has been occupied.
Its speciality is that up to the present day it is the one
and only cross-border industrial park in Hungary. Its western
part lies over the Austrian border and it has its own border
crossing point.
The area of the industrial park is protected with dams and
a flood-hollow.
The area is suitable for industrial plants, offices, central
distributing-storehouses and for buildings of trade. |
